Guide to Using the Pinch Method Calculator

The Pinch Method Calculator is designed to be intuitive and easy to use.

  1. Set the Minimum Temperature Difference (ΔTmin)
Enter the minimum temperature difference at the top of the calculator. The default value is 10°C, which you can adjust upward or downward using the arrow controls.
  2. Define Process Streams
    • By default, the calculator includes one hot stream and one cold stream.
    • You can remove any stream by clicking the Delete button next to the stream data.
    • To include additional streams, click the “Add Stream” button.
  3. Configure Stream Properties
    • Select whether the stream is Hot or Cold using the drop-down menu.
    • Enter the supply temperature and target temperature for each stream.
    • Specify the heat capacity flow rate (CP). The enthalpy change (ΔH) is calculated automatically.
  4. Run the Analysis
Once all stream data have been entered, click the “Run Pinch Analysis” button.
  5. View Results
    The calculator generates:
    • Hot and Cold Composite Curves (or Combined Composite Curves)
    • Problem Table Algorithm results
    • Grand Composite Curve (GCC)

These outputs provide a complete heat-integration analysis, enabling identification of minimu
